Lazy Bear Lodge

Lazy Bear Lodge is located near Dillsboro and Sylva North Carolina. It is within minutes to Western Carolina University, Maggie Valley,Cherokee and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Dillsboro is a quaint shopping village in the Smoky Mountains with shopping, dinning and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.

Summer and Fall are the peak tourist seasons for the Smoky Mountains. Summer time highs average in the middle 80s and lows in the upper 50s. There is an abundance of hiking, mountain biking  and equestrian trails throughout the area. White water paddle sports are very popular as well. Fontana Lake is formed by several rivers in the region, including the Little Tennessee River. The lake's northern boundary is Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Fall colors typically start in October and peak in the middle of the month.

Winter and Spring are not busy seasons for traveling. Winters are not harsh and snow can occur anywhere from November through March. If you enjoy crystal clear skies and peace and quite, then the winter and early spring months are an excellent time to visit the Smokies. The Smoky Mountains get their smoky look from all the trees emitting terpenes in the summer.

During the winter after the leaves have fallen, the mountain air is vivid and fresh especially after a passing cold front. Winter sports are available in Cataloochee and Sapphire Valley ski areas. Cataloochee located near Maggie Valley is about 25 minutes away from Lazy Bear Lodge, 40 minutes from Bear Trax and about 25 minutes from Bear Necessities.
